Sunshine and warmth reminds us once again why we ex-patriots vacation and live here in northern Baja....not to mention the hospitality shown to us by the warm hearted Mexicans who have called this peninsula home for many centuries. As I drive around on the newly paved and widened "free road" I see many new places just "popping up" overnight it seems! Entrepreneurism abounds here now. I make it a point to go to El Jeffe Market, a small market in Primo Tapia, that has the items we all run out of at the last minute. If you are looking for some special food item...just ask the owner...and he will have it in the store for your next visit!! Tony Pasten , the owner, tells me that he is working with Bancomer to get a MUCH NEEDED ATM machine there. (Feel free to contact Hiram Felix at the Plaza Floresta branch of Bancomer (661) 612-3978 x18 that you would suport such a decision) Right next door to El Jeffe is Familia Farmacia and a doctor's office ($3 for a consultation!)..and yes! they do take credit cards.

Ruben, owner of Ruben's Grill in Cantamar, has opened a new restaurant called "The Lighthouse" at km 58..just north of Hotel La Mision. I have been there and plan to go back often...the view is one of the MOST OUTSTANDING OCEANVIEWS in northern Baja. The food and the service is excellent also...you will be sooooo glad you went!!

There is also a new coffee house in the town of Primo Tapia! "Casa Luz" http://www.bajarealestatemagazine.com/casaluz/index.htm in Primo Tapia next to the church (NAME). (turn towards the ocean at the dirt street with the outdoor vegetable stand on the corner, off of the free road. Francisco Garcia, who is spearheading this project, says "It a great place to meet or just have a cup of coffee. Stop by and see it, we have been working with a church from Canada and are going to open a CHILDRENS HOME in the facility we have in back of the coffee shop...a portion of our proceeds will go to this home."
