Our Newest Baja Marketplace Additions & Events!

Sunshine and warm weather reminds us once again why we ex-patriots vacation and live here in northern Baja....not to mention the hospitality shown to us by the warm hearted Mexicans who have called this peninsula home for many centuries. As I drive around on the newly paved and widened "free road" and the recent work being done on the toll road,  I see many new places just "popping up" overnight it seems! Entrepreneurism abounds here now. This has been a very busy summer for me, traveling back and forth to the US on a weekly basis.  I have found time however, to enjoy a couple of new experiences, including several trips to The Valley de Guadalupe for lunch at La Hacienda with friends and family who have made the trek to Baja. I am also looking forward to enjoying the Summer Vendimia Festival which is held every August in the Valle de Guadalupe.  Here is a  GREAT link that will let you know of all of the events that are planned. Maybe I'll see you there?

Enjoy these beautiful gardens, statuary, fountains while dining

La Hacienda, a truly UNIQUE & CHARMING  escape from the busy life (and not to be missed, if you are here in northern Baja!) is located only about 6 miles inland from the pacific ocean and about 10 miles north of downtown Ensenada. The restaurant sits in a grotto of 400 year old Encino trees and a nursery. The service and the food, which is served on linen tablecloths, is always consistently fabulous! The price is right too!!! This is a VERY AFFORDABLE luxury! After a lunch accompanied by soft Mexican music, we stopped into La Casa Vieja, a small boutique winery close by,  for some wine tasting and enjoyed their small shop, which boasts local artisans food products,  jewelry, art & clothing. On our way back home, we took a side trip to the FISH MARKET on the oceanfront in Ensenada to select some very fresh fish at 1/3 the price of it in the US. This entire adventure only took 4-5 hours and the drive is breathtaking...  While in the valley we noticed that some very ultra modern solar lights were installed in the little village with only 1 street signal...and where you turn to go to La Hacienda.

"Birds are singing their praise about the quiet & serene elegance in Primo Tapia!!!"

Located on a side street, Miguel Hidalgo, and which can be seen from the main street through the town of Primo Tapia...just before you get to the southern-most bridge crossway, there is a very new Casa del Cafe' in Primo Tapia...this cafe' is truly a "diamond in the rough"! I stopped in there today to try out a ham & cheese bagel sandwich & an ice cold mocha latte' (65 pesos...or US $5.00). I was truly taken aback by the quiet and clean modern decor, as well as the view of the bay of Puerto Nuevo and the hills of Coronel from my seat. You can bring your laptop, and enjoy the salads, sandwiches, coffee, lattes, desserts, wifi, tv, magazines, in a very elegant & tranquil setting.  Casa del Cafe' also has a large room with video equipment which can be used for meetings, classes, or parties.

This cafe' also donates a portion of their income to Casa de Luz, a new Day Care Center for children with single  mothers, located next door. Go see their website...and learn all about their wonderful vision! http://casadeluzmexico.blogspot.com/

Clean, modern & efficient service + cocoa brown walls, muted window treatments, comfortable seating and a modern touch to this wonderful "coffee shop". Be sure to bring your laptop and a friend...enjoy a quiet moment while catching up with your e-mail! Breakfast or lunchtime....Jesus & Jasmine are there to serve you.  Be sure to ask about renting their meeting room or hosting a party at the restaurant.  OPEN 7 days/ week Hours: 8AM-10PM (661) 614-0333
