From:  Molly Post   Molly@futurewave.org   Fri, January 21, 2011 7:42:11 AM Subject:  I need your help . . .   If you're anything like me, you're confounded and frustrated when you see so many stray dogs wandering our neighborhoods and towns.  They are mangy, starving and clearly unwanted and far too many are reproducing.    Some of us feed strays or take them in and get them fixed and try to find them homes . . . but it's a daunting and unending and costly task.  Every day I go to a web site . . .  www.theanimalrescuesite.com . . . I click on a "click here to give" box.   With each click food and care for animals is donated by various sponsors.  I've been doing this for years and I'm sure many of you also click daily.  It takes just a few seconds and hopefully helps a lot of animals.      When I clicked on the site last week, I noticed that they were starting a new campaign to vote for your favorite animal shelter to win a cash prize of $5000.  I looked for a shelter in Baja and then in San Diego and I found The Baja Animal Sanctuary.  This "no kill" shelter is actually located in Rosarito.  They rescue Mexican dogs and cats and work with adoption centers in San Diego to place these animals.  I've started to vote for The Baja Animal Sanctuary every day.      It finally occurred to me that I could use some help . . . and obviously The Baja Animal Sanctuary can use some help.  So I thought I would see if passing on this information to my e-mail list and asking each of you to vote every day could make a difference.  I'm betting that we can win this award for The Baja Animal Sanctuary.  If everyone on my list votes every day and if you pass the word on to your e-mail list and they vote every day, by March 20th, when this campaign ends, maybe we'll have earned $5000 for The Baja Animal Sanctuary.     I hope you'll, at least, give it a try and see that it takes just a few seconds each day.  It costs nothing and feels good to make a difference to an animal less fortunate than my very lucky pups (both rescues).  And, if we get enough participation, maybe we'll make a big difference to The Baja Animal Sanctuary.        Thank you . . .   Ed. Prices for vaccines can star at around 100 pesos; de-worming form 80 pesos ($6.50 US) , surgeries can start from around 600 pesos ($50US) depending on the surgery, prices vary depending on where you go with the lowest being in the graneros. For grooming services, a good basic grooming with bath, a trim and perfume can start around 200 pesos. ($18US)
